School district regulating lunches?
I honestly do not often bring a full lunch to school because I do not have enough time to make a big lunch and I don't have any time the night before because I have lacrosse practices almost everyday so when I get home I just go to bed, so I usually just eat when I get home. Some people have their parents make them lunches everyday but thats up to the parents. So for the school districts to be monitoring our lunches and making us make full healthy lunches may not be good for some people.
Some of the good things about the school district regulating our lunches would be that everybody would have equal healthy lunches everyday. I know that some people bring very unhealthy lunches everyday involving pizza, chips, pop and other food items full of sugar and salt. Also some people go across the street to buy food like DDDN and Chesters who both have quite unhealthy food. (Even though in DDDN's name they say it's good for you.) So buying lunch is not always the best idea because it's so bad for you. Therefore if the school district was monitoring what we ate many students who eat bad meals from the fast food resturants would be way healthier and be able to perform in school and sports far better.
The parts of the school district monitoring what we eat. If the school district was monitoring me what I ate for lunch I would be in big trouble because I am a big offender for bringing bad lunches to school. Sometimes I will just bring 2$ to buy a drink and a granola bar or somehting. I may bring a sandwich to school maybe once per week if I am granted the time in the morning to make it because I am not willing to wake up any earlier. Other people just don't like to eat healthy because ither they are just too lazy to make a good lunch or just don't even want to eat healthy because they would rather fork down some Chesters or a bunch of pizza from fresh slice.
In conclusion I personally think that if the school district monitored our lunches many people would be alot more healthy so that they could perform better in school and sports. Then again, the people who do not have time to fix up a big hearty lunch before school could be in lot's of trouble. So all in all if the school district were to monitor what we eat I think that it would be for the best for the vast majority of the students.

Hey there, this is one of Ms. Lees' Grade 12 students and I hope you don't mind a quick critique.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your grammar needs a little bit of work. While your spelling is very accurate and precise, a majority of sentences are a bit run on. Remember, comma's are your best friend!
As for the post itself, I do kind of want to bring attention to a few things.
I'm all for eating healthy. I think it's a life style choice that'd only truly benefit people and because of such, looking into healthier alternatives for lunches would of course make you feel good.
But you can't exactly force people to abide by a life style they don't want to deal with. While eating healthy is good, do understand that there ARE those cravings people will have for something like candy or a slice of pizza.
Also, I don't think people would make good lunches just because they're lazy or would rather fork down pizza or Chester's. When you buy fast food, you're buying convenience of time. Sometimes buying a quick lunch would be more time efficient but by having a pre-made lunch yes would be even more convenient. But of course, as you've stated if people don't have time in the morning or night before, then they of course have to buy.
Also, you should consider the idea of being driven back home to eat lunch like what I do. Also, just because you EAT healthy, if you don't retain the exercise or work out then it's just going to sit there. That's not to say you need to do a lot to exercise after eating a good meal. A 30 - 45 minute walk works extremely well.
I understand the care you have for the health of students as well as the benefits, but consider the above. Overall a pretty good post. If you'd like some advice, consider typing up your responses in a word document so it lets you know what to fix up. One small thing is you misspelled 'either' in there. Having Google Chrome helps too!
Good Post!
ReplyDeleteCouple things to look out for are a couple small grammar and punctuation errors, as well as several run on sentences. For the most part my opinion on this particular topic goes well with your's other than a few clashing opinions. Sure, many individuals from our school choose to go get lunch from DDDN, Chester's, Fresh Slice, Oishi and/or the many other food joints that Fraser Heights has blessed us with. Though, our age group ranging from 13-18 should be capable of making decisions for ourselves don't you think? Not all of us have to choose unhealthy food when we buy lunch, just a majority of us. I believe it takes even less time to go into Nester's and grab an apple and a small salad from the deli. Rather than to wait in line at Chester's or Oishi for food that will just make you feel sick later in the day. I think that we shouldn't need to be monitored on what we ingest, just be smart about it or our privileges will be taken away. Individuals need to realize that having a pop everyday will just hurt you in the long run, be smart, and you'll live long. Hope this helped!! Remember to Spell Check.
